Words and Numbets used in Gardens

These wonderful DIY garden decorations all use words and numbers in some creative way. They are all easy to do and yet very effective. I love cottage gardening and they would all fit into my garden scheme nicely.

Whether it be to label your herbs, or give some curb appeal to your house numbers in a neat way, one of these handy DIY projects might be just the thing to add some character to your garden or home.

Stone markers for herbs

Nice selection of rocks with one flat side and a variety of textures plus a paint pen = decorative herb plant markers. Idea shared from Creative Cain Cabin

garden decorations

Melissa from Empress of Dirt had a great idea to set a mood. She painted these polished stones and placed in a bird bath. Choose one to get some inspiration for your day. They also make nice places for butterflies to sun themselves.

Grass House Numbers

Grass numbers are definitely a new way to make a statement. The green stands out perfectly on the orange background. No one will miss this from the street. Made by a company called Potted, but currently out of stock. Source via Houzz. You could make your own if you are handy with some plain sheet metal bent into the number shapes and filled with grass seed.

Car parts recycled into a cute garden planter

My friend Carlene did a tour of her sister’s garden recently and shared this photo with me. It uses re-purposed car part names into a cute little stool/garden planter. See the whole tour on Organized Clutter.

garden signs

Twigs and branches shaved and then painted with the name of veggies. Great way to make use of items that might otherwise end up in the rubbish bin. Shared from Sweet Life Garden.

Staggered planter for curb appeal

Three planters with a step up look and street numbers adds great curb appeal to a front step. I did this project for my front door. You can find the tutorial on The Gardening Cook.

The letters are made from misprinted soda, juice, and soup can metal that was otherwise headed for the landfill. Great recycling project. Shared from Apartment Therapy.

buckets

Galvanized buckets with your house numbers painted on them. Another great way to use house numbers and give some neat curb appeal to your front garden. Shared from Sisters of the Wild West

bricks

Painted Bricks used as herb markers. Love these! Shared from Simple Details are the Difference.

House numbers with a back drop of greenery

Jacki from Blue Fox Farm has her house numbers on a post with a back drop of greenery. I love this effect! It makes you think that something grand is behind all that green!
