I’m now officially a mother-in-law, and I’m so proud and happy to have my son married to his college sweetheart!
We had a lovely wedding and I’m sharing just a few sweet pics :-) and then this quick makeover we did, partnered with At Home stores, for the courtyard area of the wedding venue, Butler’s Courtyard.
Butler's Courtyard is the site of a historic bank building in a small town south of Houston. It has exposed brick walls, sparkly chandeliers, and a vintage vibe to the ambience. First of all, here’s the bride and groom. :-)
It was such a beautiful evening with an outdoor ceremony and lots of music, food, and fun...it fit them perfectly. (One of the benefits of having a blog, you can share photos of your kids, shamelessly.:-)
The bride and her mom did such a beautiful job on the decor for the wedding, but there was one space that needed a little extra attention we discovered on our last walk-through, the courtyard. The outdoor benches were the perfect vintage, shabby-chic look but the area looked a bit drab and uninspiring.
This was the main pass-through area from the ceremony to the reception, to the bar, and then to the bathrooms, so everyone would be walking through this space throughout the entire evening. Of course, we had to be able to decorate this quickly, the day of the wedding (before the hair and make-up), and I wanted it to be easy for just that reason. I was excited to pitch this idea to At Home for a partnership, because I knew I could find just the right items there for dressing up this space. Here are the pics of the corners of the courtyard, before the makeover.
The bride and I went shopping a few weeks before and found all kinds of light, pretty items to brighten up these dull corners. She’s a girly girl, with a penchant for chandeliers, vintage glass, sequins, and glam. With the colors of the wedding going blush and a marsala wine color, we pulled items that would work with her color scheme.
We found pillows and accessories to brighten and lighten up this area, like this candle holder and these vases we used for candle holders, some pretty pillows, like this and this, and a large, lightweight urn filled with white branches and sparkly branch picks on a pedestal. I loved how we added height and something airy and light to that far corner of the courtyard. We added in a small table or two for drinks as well.
These little cement birds were perfect out there. I used my husband’s grandmother’s embroidered vintage linen napkins as little tabletop covers to cover the brown wicker tables. After all, “A” is the couple’s last name initial now too!
